Week 16 2012

This week’s bit of fun:

Parents of the year...

-----------------------------------------------------------

Monday was radio play night again.  I managed to complete my 4:1 balun and after testing It has an SWR of less than 1.3 to 1 from 1.8Mhz to 60Mhz. I need to get this on the air now.

Thursday was a committee night for Sutton and Cheam Radio Society. It’s also a time to catch up with other club members.

Saturday is the last training day for our 11 students before their exam day on Sunday.

Sunday we now have 11 new Intermediate License holders as of this afternoon. All students passed making some very happy student s and instructors. You can’t pay enough money to see the smile on a student’s face when they pass. It’s from ear to ear :-)

Week 15 2012

This week’s bit of fun:

Now and Then

------------------------------------------------------

Monday night is radio play night. I wish these sessions were longer, and then I could take part in all or the events. This Monday there was some operating on 2 metres, Balun testing and some good technical discussions. Chris did take some pictures but luckily for you he did not send them to me.

Wednesday Colin and I recorded the latest episode of the ICQPODCAST for release on Sunday.

Sunday was a very busy day for Colin and I.

I spent the day with Robin and Rosemary of Sycom at the Kempton Rally catching up with friends and talking to many radio amateurs. I was a good boy and did not come home with a lot of gear for future projects:-(

Colin released the latest episode of the ICQPODCAST.

Week 14 2012

This week’s bit of fun:

ALWAYS ASK, NEVER ASSUME!!

His request approved, the CNN News photographer
quickly used a cell phone to call the local airport
to charter a flight.

He was told a twin-engine plane would be waiting
for him at the airport.

Arriving at the airfield, he spotted a plane warming
up outside a hanger.

He jumped in with his bag, slammed the door
shut, and shouted, 'Let's go'.

The pilot taxied out, swung the plane into the wind
and took off.

Once in the air, the photographer instructed the
pilot, 'Fly over the valley and make low
passes so I can take pictures of the fires
on the hillsides.'

'Why?' asked the pilot.

'Because I'm a photographer for CNN' ,
he responded, 'and I need to get
some close up shots.'

The pilot was strangely silent for a moment..
Finally he stammered, 'So, what you're telling me,
is .. . . you're not my flight instructor?'

------------------------------------------------
I’m not sure where the time has gone this week. I have been very busy with little to show for it.

Friday I did get to record the next feature with Cam Hams which was a great chat. After editing, this is almost 40 minutes. This is a bit long but thge content is very good and well worth listening too.

Still you will have to wait till next weekend.

Week 13 2012

This week’s bit of fun:

The Husband Store

A store that sells new husbands has opened in Liverpool One where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights.

The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs
She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids. 'That's nice,' she thinks, 'but I want more.'So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking. 'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework...'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!'  Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

PLEASE NOTE:

To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opened a New Wives store just across the street with the same rules.

The first floor has wives that love sex.

The second floor has wives that love sex and have money and like beer

The third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors have never been visited.

Week 12 2012

This week’s bit of fun:

If you think this is not PC then you should have seen the ones I rejected

video

------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing major happening at the moment, both work and my hobby seem to the same as ever.

I have been doing some computer work for a future project Colin and I have been talking about. Part of the system is being tested at home before I do some real world testing next week.

I did get some time this weekend to have another look at the valve (tube) receiver I am renovating. It’s still not right, but I did hear a station in Romania working other contest stations on a 3 metre length of wire. At least I’m moving in the right direction.

The other blog I manage went off line this afternoon which did make me panic for a few minutes when Google said it did not exist. However playing-radio.blogspot .com is back online.
