Carole has taken a week’s holiday of work but unfortunately I have no more days to take. Mum is still in hospital and I am visiting her daily.

Monday 25th September

Morse night has come around again. Six of us tonight for our class. We have the option to use the hall on Monday nights for other radio activities. I must publish this because we are planning to do a number of projects.

-------------------------------------------

Tuesday 26tth September

My new Dstar radio (ID-E880) arrived today but unfortunately it was DOA.

-------------------------------------------

Wednesday27th September

I spoke to David at LAM Communications who was very helpful in resolving this problem.

-------------------------------------------

Thursday28th September

A replacement radio arrived this morning which I checked in our workshop. I then put the radio on soak test for the rest of the afternoon.

-------------------------------------------

Friday 29th September

I was going to play with my new radio however I spent most of the evening doing IT support for Carole. You have to keep the poker sites working.

-------------------------------------------

Saturday 30th September

I went to Epsom with Carole Saturday Lunch time. We left the car at home and caught the train. It’s only four stops and takes about 20 minutes. Carole did some shopping before we had a late lunch. We visited mum on the way home.

I had my first Dstar contact with this new ID-E880 radio. The contact was with Chris Howard (2E0CTH) via GB7OK. I then added more repeaters into memory.

-------------------------------------------

Sunday 31st September

I had a quick contact with Chris (2E0CTH) and Mushtaq (LA3RIA) from Norway via GB7OK before getting involved with other things. We have had the best month ever on the ICQPODCAST and I am very happy with the download figures.

how are you liking the 880 ?, I am seriously thinking of buying one (In fact a coupl of my mates and I are taking a road trip from Montreal to Boston in a couple of weeks and the main reason for going is to visit the HRO store in New Hampshire, where I may buy a ID-880.. )
Did you get a data cable ?
cheers and looking forward to hearing what you think of the 880
